Sunrise and sunset use the Sun's centre on the horizon without refraction (the Hindu sunrise convention), so they can differ by a few minutes from weather apps. Lahiri ayanamsa. All times are local (Asia/Kolkata).

Panchang for other cities

How this Panchang is calculated

A Hindu day runs from one sunrise to the next, so every limb is read at local sunrise and its end time is found by searching forward minute by minute.

Tithi is each 12° of separation between the Moon and the Sun; karana is half a tithi; yoga is each 13°20′ of the combined Sun and Moon longitudes; nakshatra is the Moon's 13°20′ mansion.

Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda and Gulika divide the daytime into eight parts. Abhijit Muhurta is the 8th of 15 daytime parts, around local noon.

Common questions

Why is your sunrise a few minutes later than my phone's?

Weather apps use the top edge of the Sun with atmospheric refraction. Panchangs traditionally use the Sun's centre without refraction, which is a few minutes later.

Is Rahu Kaal the same everywhere?

No. It depends on local sunrise and sunset, so it changes by city and by date.
